The Texas Heritage Project of AITSCM, established in December 2014, conducts humanities-based primary research to collect and showcase previously unreleased family artifacts with historical significance in South-Central Texas. Through community events known as “History Harvests,” families come together to display their artifacts, celebrating the cultural identity and contributions of Indigenous/Latino communities to the region’s rich heritage.

We recognize that Indigenous art is much more than a visual representation—it is a vessel of storytelling, a means of connection to ancestral roots, and a powerful tool for cultural preservation. Through our work, we seek to honor and amplify the voices of Indigenous artists, ensuring that their artistry and narratives are shared authentically and respectfully.
The Indigenous Arts Team embraces the diversity of Indigenous artistic expressions, spanning a wide range of mediums including visual arts, traditional crafts, music, dance, theater, storytelling, and more. We collaborate with Indigenous artists, elders, and community leaders to provide platforms for their work to be showcased, recognized, and celebrated.
