Manuel Dávila de Leon

Manuel Davila’s work focuses on preservation of the culture of the Tap Pilam Coahuiltecan Nation. Their work focuses on raising awareness for the legacy behind south Texas indigenous arts and maintaining a decolonial approach to the history of our city. Manuel is also a community organizer who has worked on immigration, healthy eating and climate sustainability campaigns for the past ten years and represented San Antonio in the Celebration of Basketry and Native Food Gathering, as well as the 2017 People’s Climate March in Washington D.C. They spend their free time painting and making ceramic works as well as gardening and learning about the native plants of South Texas.
